Frequently Asked Questions
How many questions will I see?
Between 70 and 120 — the CAT stops when competency is determined. More questions doesn't mean you failed.
What happens if I fail?
You must wait 15 days. After 3 fails, you must complete additional training before retesting.
Is the Paramedic exam the same?
Same CAT format but longer (80–150 questions) and covers advanced interventions (IV, advanced airways, medications).
What study materials work best?

Does passing NREMT guarantee state licensure?
NREMT certification is the national standard, but you must also apply for your state EMS license separately.
