Question Types

Dialogue listening

Short conversations with true/false or MCQ follow-up.

Strategies

  • βœ“Focus on the final lines β€” answers often depend on the last thing said
  • βœ“Know emotion words, opinion markers, and relationship vocabulary

Sentence ordering

Arrange characters/words into a correct sentence.

Strategies

  • βœ“Topic + comment (SOV) structure dominates Chinese
  • βœ“Adverbs of time come before the verb: ζˆ‘ζ˜¨ε€©εŽ»δΊ† not ζˆ‘εŽ»δΊ†ζ˜¨ε€©

General Strategies

  • 1.Master the official HSK vocabulary lists β€” HSK 4 requires ~1,200 words total (cumulative).
  • 2.Use Anki with the HSK deck β€” spaced repetition is the most efficient way to learn characters.
  • 3.Listen to Chinese daily: HSK-level podcasts (ChinesePod, HSK Online), dramas with subtitles.
  • 4.Writing practice: type characters, not just recognize them β€” typing on a phone builds recall.
  • 5.Grammar points: study 把, θ’«, θ™½η„Ά...δ½†ζ˜―, εͺζœ‰...才... β€” they're tested directly.
