Key Vocabulary
Disinfection
Destroys most organisms on non-porous surfaces — required for implements.
Sterilization
Destroys ALL organisms including spores — required for surgical instruments, not standard cosmetology tools.
pH
Measure of acidity/alkalinity on a 0–14 scale. Hair is naturally slightly acidic (~4.5–5.5).
Developer (peroxide)
Oxidizing agent that activates hair color. Volume determines strength of lift.
